The Vision Behind Light 1 Candle

Vertical candle shaped like the number 1 inside a dark textured frame

My faith has been an important part of my journey and the calling I feel to care for others. After years of being entrusted with individuals living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other forms of cognitive decline, I came to understand that caregiving was more than a profession for me. It was work I felt called to do.

Light 1 Candle represents the purpose that has continued to guide me: serving individuals and families with compassion, dignity, empathy, and personalized care through some of life’s most challenging seasons.

Where the Journey Began

My journey into caregiving began unexpectedly in 2013. After church one Sunday, I saw a friend helping her mother, who was living with dementia, and felt a deep pull to help. That one moment led to weekly respite visits, then professional caregiving, and ultimately a career dedicated to supporting individuals and families navigating memory loss.

My caregiving journey began with weekly respite visits, an experience that planted the seed for what would become my life’s work.

2015

I began caring for a client living with Young Onset Alzheimer’s, deepening my experience in memory care.

2017

I was entrusted with another client living with Alzheimer’s, further affirming that caring for those experiencing memory loss was my calling.

2024

I transitioned from agency work to independent caregiving, continuing to serve individuals and families with compassion, empathy, and personalized care.
